Holywell Bay Surf Life Saving Club membership includes Nippers from the age of 7 years, right up to some of the oldest living creatures, infact, we are happy to include within our club, the oldest living human we know of whose name is Wjippet!
The club, which has been going now for well over 40 years, operates on a voluntary basis and provides training and education for local youths in first aid, resuscitation and surfing on a weekly basis.
Our club is not restricted to purely summertime activities, even in the winter we operate our weekly training sessions with the main ephasis being on swimming and endurance. The summer regime includes daily training for young and old which again is voluntarily run by the clubs own members.
Nippers
The youngest of the lifesavers, known as "Nippers" make up a large proportion of our club. Aged between 7 - 12 years, these members learn all there is to know about beach safety. Their training is various and provides them with all the skills needed to go on to further, more advanced courses wihtin our training and educational program. Nippers learn surfing, swimming and leadership skills and this is a highly recommended and proven course of education for anyone considering taking more advanced courses later in life.
Juniors
The junior section is for those aged between 12 - 16 and also includes the last year of Nippers. The training and educational side of things becomes more advanced here and members are more actively encouraged to take part in competitions and to gain awards and certificates.
